4th GIRAF Workshop, 6th – 9th of October 2015 in Maputo, Mozambique.

We would like to announce to all of you and invite you warmly to the 4th GIRAF workshop which will take place from 6th – 9th of October 2015 in Maputo, Mozambique.

The event will be hosted by the Ministry of Mines and Energy and jointly organized by the Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM) and National Directorate of Geology (DNG), Maputo, together with the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR), Germany, supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The workshop will be under the patronage of the Commission for the Management and Application of Geoscience Information (CGI), UNESCO and the Geological Society of Africa (GSAF).

The main topic will be Geoscience Information and Sustainable Mining, but contributions to all Geoscience Information topics in particular in Africa are welcome.

At the moment BGR, UEM and DNG are working together on the 4-day workshop program. In parallel we are up-dating the GIRAF website www.giraf-network.org where you can register your interest in your participation of GIRAF 2015. Please check regularly for new and actualized information.

1st YES Sudan National Chapter Forum

1st YES Sudan Chapter Forum will be held in Khartoum, between 23 and 24 May 2015 under the theme "Pathway, Practice and Platform into Global Earth Science Integration's".

 
The event will be organized by the Sudan YES National Chapter in cooperation with Nile Cat Canter, GeoPetra Group, Nile Geosciences Center and Al Neelain University.
YES Sudan forum provides excellent opportunities for sharing ideas, experiences and best practices in different areas of geosciences. It is an exciting, stimulating and rewarding annual event for young geoscientist’s professionals in all sectors.

Forum Sub-Themes

Proposals for presentations and workshops are invited on any of the following areas:

1. Professional Pathways.
2. Earth Sciences Education and Policy for Sustainable Development.
3. Success of Integrated Geology, Geophysics and Geochemistry approaches.

Sending a Proposal Form

General criteria for accepting proposals:



A proposal will only be accepted if it
> Is directly relevant to the forum theme.
    > Has not been presented at any other regional conferences.
    > Has a clear focus and communicates original ideas. 
    > Reports on a recently completed research project or a significant phase of the research; has practical use for the audience; or if theoretical, must include useful applications.
   > Is linguistically clear and accurate.
   > Reflects what the speaker is going to talk about.
   > Is submitted before the deadline.

Other ways of submission will not be considered.

1-      Fill in the registration form here and send it to forum coordinator (yesregistersudan@gmail.com).
2-      Please make sure you provide us with the correct information and accurate spelling. We will use the spelling you provide to print your certificate and name badge.
3-   You will receive confirmation email containing the information you sent to us. If you don’t receive the email, Please call us.

UCLA Ion Microprobe Student Workshop (February 17 – 21, 2014)

The UCLASIMS laboratory will host a 5 day workshop on ion microprobe applications in Earth Sciences from February 17 to 21, 2014. The workshop emphasizes microanalytical geochronology and isotope geochemistry with a large radius magnetic sector SIMS. NSF’s Instrumentation and Facilities program will sponsor travel, accommodation costs and course materials for domestic participants. Welcome to Sudan Yes Network Chapter of the global YES Network (www.networkyes.org), an international professional network provides access to elements that are essential to the professional growth of earth scientists at all levels of expertise and from all sectors: academic, government, business, and industry. The YES Network growing membership unites thousands of earth scientists from every corner of the globe in a common purpose to study the mysteries of our planet and share scientific findings.
The YES Sudan Chapter aim to provide a continuing forum for the exchange of ideas, experience and information among all persons concerned with the role of the geosciences in international development. We have monthly luncheon meetings that are open to the public and that feature presentations by professional geoscientists from academia, government, and industry in Sudan. We also look to host large technical conferences and are active in promoting earth science education in the community. Yes Sudan is based in Khartoum, Sudan.
